I've been using Google Code Hosting to host all the CSS/JS images for this very site for months, without any problems/performance issues. The license, as far as I know, doesn't pose any problem if you use those files. It's now pretty popular to use Google Hosting for offloading static files...

You can learn about the licensing and terms here:

http://code.google.com/term...

Re: Offloading ALL JS Files To Google

and what about license and performance / reliabilty?

jquery is on purpose put in cdn .... would my google code project have equal treatment? im concerned would google not server it from some secondary quality pool or potentially cut it off if low on processing power if necessary?

What does license say about using goolge project as hosting for your site content? does it not violate it? i thought sites like this and freshmeat are meant for sharing of the code not 'exploiting' its potential to host files : )

sounds like a very good idea im just not sure if its reliable to use google code.

Cool tip though!

Re: Offloading ALL JS Files To Google

hi. i'm actually considering using github for this. beside offloading, it actually let us easily edit the files from our browser. so, any changes are instanly go live!
does googlecode.com have any bandwidth restriction?like googlepages did...??

tnx.

Re: Offloading ALL JS Files To Google

great article, thank you

Re: Offloading ALL JS Files To Google

Thanks . but are these Oflloaded customs files on Google Code are on CDN... meaning they are fetched from the nearest server location of the site visitor

Re: Offloading ALL JS Files To Google

This is just lovely.
